Floating Dock Shop SWAG

Ok so this morning we are feeling a bit silly.

But we have some really cool new hats and shirts we are quite proud off.

We were even going to give away one on facebook, but with all their policies and such we couldn't do it without signing up for this silly monthly fee thing.

So, reply to this blog, tell us why you need this ultra cool Floating Dock Shop SWAG...and we will pick some lucky person to send this stylish piece of fashion off to.

Cheers to summertime, floating docks, and sporting Floating Dock Shop SWAG this season!

The Great Dock Migration

"By George, what is that going down my river? That guy is simply off his rocker, what is he driving? Is it a house? Is it a dock? Is it a boat?"

"Why, I'm glad you asked.  It is merely the Great Dock Migration."

"The what?"

Ok, we are just being silly here, but this is a real photo of us moving a dock down a private canal.

Many people often ask us what happens when they don't have a lot of space for heavy equipment and dock building on their waterfront.  It may be a case of you living in a subdivision where you can touch your neighbor's house with a broomstick, or it may just be that you have a pretty remote site with a cliff.

We simply build at the nearest accessible site, attach our trusty little outboard motor to the dock, and "volia" we have the Great Dock Migration!  So before you think you just can't have a floating dock where you are, think again!  We have ways of making it happen!

Happy Dock Building!

Here we Grow again!

Yes, our blog has been quiet for quite some time now, but it was because we were out working on a "growth" project for our little business!

After years of being landlocked, we finally found our little piece of paradise. Pictured you see the frame of the office. It only looks like it is two stories, you see, on the waterfront, you need to elevate a bit! You also need a floating dock :)

The record floods of June 2011 slowed us up a bit, but we are back on the project and will have more photos soon, for now...time to go add the sides of the building, and maybe the floor, don't you think?

Floating Docks and Hurricanes

With hurricanes come wind and water. You would figure the bigger the dock, the more damage. This year, when Gustav hit Louisiana, the eye, as a category 1 storm (100 mph winds) came within one of our largest docks in False River. This dock held its moorings, had no damage, and merely floated off of anchor poles that were a bit short (aesthetics!)

See the dock next to it? Under water!

The sad part is that floating docks on this particular lake are new, here's a shot take from the second storey of our dock looking at all the other docks near ours, all under water and

unusable:

To read more about how our floating docks perform in extreme conditions, check out the story of one of our docks that survived Katrina in 2005.

Well, time for me to go drag some more branches out of my yard!

Floating Docks and Nesting

Ok, so maybe you think I've lost it and become a bird lover. Not that I don't love birds, but that's not the type of nesting I'm talking about.

What I'm talking about is the type of nesting that makes us look around our home and say, hey, I want to improve my surroundings--IE: improving your nest.

Those of you with waterfront property, glance out over your dock. Is it as nice as it once was? Is it safe? Are there some things that you just wish you had done different? Well, it's not too late.

Whether it is a complete dock tear out, or a dock building project you want to undertake yourself, there is no reason not to make your dock a place where you can greet waterfront visitors or just spend a great Sunday afternoon relaxing.

Fenderbud

We found this new product to protect your boat transom on your boat dock. It makes your fenders stationary and mounts on the dock.
